Aussie Dare 45 Hot Hot Hot

January's dare for Aussie Dares was to come up with something Hot and trust me the weather here in Australia certainly joined in. Below is a photo of my entry. Note the lack of scrapbooking. It is all paint. Can you find the lizard? I call it Twilight Heat.
As soon as I get myself organised I will be selling prints and calendars and some original work. I will give you the link later. I have to fight the tax office to get my business number reinstated first.

Traffic

It is almost 5:30pm and I am sitting at work waiting for the peak hour traffic to die down. I would rather type this now than fight the traffic. In fact I think I am not meant to be on the road today. This morning as I pulled out of my neighbourhood I pulled in front of a young guy in a hotted up yute with all his fancy work gear in the back. He was still quite some distance away but he soon caught up due to excess speed. I of course was going the limit (5km over actually) and he didn't like it so he sped out and around me and took of like a bat out of hell. Stupid considering a baby had been killed on this very road due to a hoon. The funny thing was is that I managed to catch up and pass him due to lights.

Half way to work there was a minor break down right where 4 major roads come together to get into the city. It took me 40 minutes to move 500m. People were so rude and would not let you out into the lane that was moving (albeit extremely slowly). It was unbelievable.

At lunch I went to scraptivate to pick up some stuff I had on order. Normally takes me 10 mins. to get there but this took me around 18. On the way back there is a weird section of the road that goes from 2 lanes to 1 and there is another road that also turns onto it. I was stopped at lights further back and as I started to move forward another idiot in truck decided to quickly turn off that road rather than give way to the oncoming traffic. He had a large trailer that housed a cherry picker, which, in his speed, hit the curb and upturned. The upturned trailor was now blocking the area where the lanes merged. Stupid thing thought is that 15m up from there the one lane becomes 2 again. It took a while for the guys in the truck to get out of the way and consequently I was really late back from lunch!!!!

Hmmm should I risk going home?

Lunch Time Blog

Yes I am doing this at work. It is lunch time though which means it is my time. I received an email from a friend at work. Not sure if this is a wild Koala (like the email lends you to believe) or if it is a pet.

Before I go further into the email though I must tell you I had a good laugh this morning on my way to work. I want you to imagine a muscular man on a pretty nice motorbike. He was wearing his black leather jacket, his black helmet, his black riding boots and then his bright green with white flowers mini sarong!!!! The legs were nothing to look at - way too hairy. I think he should consider waxing if he is going to wear something that short in future. He seemed to be in a bit of a rush as well ... not sure why.

The email
It has been so hot in SA for over a week…40+ degrees Celsius everyday, very dry also. A guy at work lives at Maude. His wife sent him these photos of a little Koala which just walked into the back porch looking for a bit of heat relief. She filled up a bucket and this is what happened!

Short break to say hi

I can't believe I have found a couple of minutes to come and say hi. Last night I went out with some old friends of mine from when I worded at the bank. We were the last to leave the restaurant. In fact they were already set up for the breakfast rush. :)

It was great to catch up as we are all now working in different areas thanks to a recent cut back in jobs at the bank (thank God I left when I did). One works for the court house, another for an air conditioning place, one in a local council and the other is still at the bank but wants to get out and study psychology. It is amazing where working in a bank can take you. We are all happy as well. No one looked stressed and withdrawn.

I have been working on my cousins wedding album. I am very happy with what I have done so far though I hate that I can spend hours just deciding on what colour paper I am going to use with certain pictures. I wish I could have an eye that would pick out the best piece straight away and have it work.

I have a group of friends coming over tonight for a small birthday get together. It should be fun. I am going to have the Wii set up as well as some board games. We may even have Mamma Mia playing in the background. :)

For Chocolate Cat

Just because you asked for an update on the exercise and because my cousin Maree should be looking here to make sure I am on track with our agreement.

Food wise I kinda reverted back to the old habit of two iced coffees at work. I did however manage to get in some painting time and an hour of exercise. I did 10 minutes on the bike at a steady pace. I then did 10 minutes on the treadmill with a slight jog. My calves got very stiff after that so I stood (listenning to my new Mamma Mia soundtrack) and did some aerobic moves to keep my legs moving and get my arms going. After that I turned on the Wii and had 3 rounds of baseball and 5 games of tennis. Finally to finish I stood for 10 minutes on the wobbly machine (I got one of those vibrator ones from ebay for a third of the price of what they charge in the stores and on TV) and then stretched as my mother smashed my record at bowling on the Wii ... and I mean smashed.
